Dear Colleague,
by participating in this survey you are participating in an EU project called “Auto-Gration”.
The EU has launched several initiatives to help Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) further develop their businesses. The Auto-Gration project is an initiative to help SMEs develop their digital integration with customers and suppliers in the automotive industry.
The automotive sector is one of the most important of the European economy, and very SME-intensive. Yet, while the SMEs are a major part of the industry, significant obstacles still exist which prevent them from fully participating in it; one of these obstacles being the existence of many incompatible Information and Communication Technology systems across the sector’s supply chain. An SME that wishes to collaborate with a number of larger manufacturers or suppliers will often be expected to maintain several such systems, an effort that needlessly increases cost and reduces logistical flexibility and actually discourages SMEs from investing fully in a coherent ICT and eBusiness technology.
To tackle this issue, the Auto-Gration project aims to provide a harmonised reference architecture for electronic data exchange and integration which will facilitate the participation of SMEs in global automotive digital supply chains.
The ultimate objective is to create a favourable environment which will stimulate and enable the uptake of ICT and eBusiness technologies, notably by SMEs, in this highly SME-intensive sector in Europe.
The project has several different phases, the first phase being to analyse the current situation in terms of eBusiness adoption throughout the European automotive supply chain.
We would therefore be very grateful if you would complete this survey in order to allow us to prepare a picture of the current situation and to help us evaluate what needs to be done to achieve the objective.
