Auto-gration at GS1 Best Practice Day
Each year, GS1 Germany holds a best practice day on eInvoicing and, given the recent changes in German taxation law and their impact on eInvoicing, this year’s event was particularly well attended.
Representatives of the automotive industry were there to present their initiatives in the area of eInvoicing and following presentations from Volkswagen and ZF covering invoice data exchange with UN/EDIFACT, Jörg Walther took the stage to explain how auto-gration fits into the plans of the German industry to extend the reach of structured invoice data exchange throughout the automotive supply chain. Mr Walther reported that the forthcoming VDA recommendation on eInvoicing for SMEs will be based on auto-gration, which is an important milestone regarding industry acceptance of the proposed auto-gration architecture.
Auto-gration is the ideal solution to fill the gap between classical EDI, used with larger Tier1 suppliers, and WebEDI, currently used with many smaller suppliers, said Bernd Metzler from Volkswagen Financial Systems. It is the logical next step towards achieving the ambitious goal of increasing the number of incoming structured electronic invoices by approximately 80%.
