There are many types of organisation involved in eBusiness in the automotive sector, including vehicle manufacturers, large suppliers, IT providers, etc. Of these, the auto-gration consortium has identified four main categories of stakeholder of vital importance to the success of the project:
-
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs): in auto-gration terms, these are companies with less than 1000 employees, They form two-thirds of the automotive industry and are the main users and thus beneficiaries of eBusiness standardisation.
-
Large companies: companies with more than 1000 employees, they are often the harbingers of the eBusiness protocols used by the industry.
-
ERP vendors: companies that produce Enterprise Resource Planning software, and therefore the ones with the ability to add support for new exchange methods.
-
B2B service providers: organisations that transform EDI messages into different formats, they allow companies that otherwise couldn't communicate to exchange eBusiness data.
